Jessica Lang Dance at Modlin Center for the Arts
REVIEW by Julinda Lewis, Richmond Times Dispatch, September 16, 2012
Referenced works:

“... the Richmond debut of Jessica Lang Dance showed Lang's work - an organic blend of classical ballet and contemporary styles - in a whole new light...The opening "Mendelssohn/Incomplete" has a natural, unforced symmetry that is unafraid to acknowledge the weightiness of the human body...The highlight of the program was a pair of works in which Lang partnered with visual artist Shinichi Maruyama. In "White," a dance created on film, Lang and Maruyama experiment - quite successfully - with time and space, creating "a duet of slow motion and real time." The dancers are layered over one another, with some moving in slow motion, some moving in real time, and some moving superfast - and they interact and partner perfectly. Billed as splashes of ink and water, the sometimes humorous and consistently quirky "i.n.k." is a seamless interaction of dancers and video."”
