Jessica Lang Dance had the pleasure of performing in New York City Center's Fall for Dance Festival just days ago. JLD dancer Clifton Brown and San Francisco Ballet's Yuan Yuan Tan's compelling performance of Among the Stars received a fantastic response from a sold out house.

JLD was also thrilled to present its most recent creation,
Elegy
, at the 2011 Inaugural Joyce SoHo Showcase where Clifton Brown and Kana Kimura represented the company with beauty and grace. JLD welcomed the opportunity to perform again at the Joyce SoHo where it celebrated its launch as a company this past summer. In the November issue of Dance Europe Magazine, Tim Martin chronicled the company's successful residency showing, citing Lang's "mesmerising use of  dynamics", "talent for incorporating striking design elements" as well as the company's strong foundation and promising future.   Ailey II just returned from performing The Calling (excerpt from Splendid Isolation II) on their national tour. Coming up in November the company will perform for audiences abroad, first in Thessaloniki and then in Athens, Greece. The Calling will also be shown in NYC this month as part of the First Annual Denise Jefferson Celebration, an event dedicated to the legacy of Denise Jefferson, Director of The Ailey School for 26 years.

For a photo exhibit currently on display through November 26 at Bloomingdales in NYC, The New York Times recently asked five of the world's top fashion designers to choose 10 photographs from the NY Times archive that are most inspiring and influential. Diane Von Furstenberg chose Sara  Krulwich's photograph of Lang's piece, Splendid Isolation III with Irina Dvorovenko performing at American Ballet Theater's opening night gala at the Metropolitan Opera House. In 2004 Lang conceived the concept of a dance that would incorporate an incredibly long, white gown that engulfed the stage and asked costume designer Elena Comendador to help fulfill her vision. Together, Lang and Comendador have since been credited with making one of the most influential and iconic images in dance today. Be sure to stop by  Bloomingdale's flagship store in NYC's Upper East Side this month to check out the photo exhibition featuring this image. View online here.

Jessica Lang Dance - New York, NY

"A lot of companies debut in New York City but many do not endure. Lang is a graduate of the illustrious Juilliard School and a former dancer for Twyla Tharp. She has choreographed more than 74 works over the past 12 years- this is the kind of foundation that gives a company a fighting chance at survival."

Fall For Dance Festival - New York, NY

"Yuan Yuan Tan and Clifton Brown danced with poignant lyricism, the ballerina's compelling technical mastery wedded to her delicately nuanced gesture and expression while Mr. Brown was the epitome of masculine grace. The audience, spellbound by the piece and by these two magnificent artists, erupted in a frenzied ovation as the dancers stepped forward to bow."
